  • How much does it cost to go to the fair?

    It's FREE! The Steele County Free Fair has been free since 1927 for everyone to enjoy!

  • Is there a shuttle to get around the grounds?

    Yes! We have a shuttle cart service that drives around the outside edge of the fairgrounds with stops along the way including at the ballfield parking lots, the Aurora Diner, West side of the Fair Office, and more!

  • Can I rent an electric scooter or wheelchair at the fair?

    Yes! Scooters and wheelchair rentals available at the First Aid Station area in the Community Building and/or tent on Elm Ave starting at 10:30AM daily.  


    Power Scooters:  $75/day

    Wheelchairs:  $30/day

  • Are there food vendors that serve allergen friendly items?

    Yes, we have several food vendors that offer allergen friendly food options at their stands. Check out the allergen friendly food vendor page for more info when it becomes available.

  • Are there special passes for the midway?

    Yes, we do offer a pre-sale maga pass for unlimited rides during the fair that is for sale leading up to the fair over at Hy-Vee across from the fairgrounds.

  • Can I bring my pet to the fair with me?

    No, unfortunately during the operating days of the county fair, pets are not allowed on the fairgrounds, with the exception of service dogs or animals approved as part of an exhibition.


    Service dogs are those that have been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for a person with a disability.


    Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act, and are not allowed on the grounds.

  • Is there a quiet space I can take small children/infants?

    Yes, First Aid & Family Quiet Zone are available in the Community Center on the N end of Elm Street.

  • Is smoking allowed on the fairgrounds?

    Yes, but only in designated marked areas. Vaping and cannabis use are prohibited on the grounds.


    No smoking in any buildings, grandstand, or bleacher seating areas.
